The first graduation of UNU-LRT fellows

On October 7th the first six fellows graduated since the Land Restoration Training programme became a part of the United Nations University.  The graduated fellows are from Ethiopia, Kyrgyzstan, Namibia, Niger, and Mongolia.   At the graduation ceremony the fellow presented their individual project work which they worked on during the latter part of the programme.

KenGen Course on Surface Exploration

UNU-GTP has launched a 12 week course on surface exploration in geothermal areas for KenGen of Kenya. The course commenced on September 13 at Lake Naivasha with a two week geology lecture series taught by Anette K. Mortensen and Bjorn Hardarson of ISOR. Participants are about 40, all of whom are KenGen staff. The geology course will be followed by a course in geochemistry and in another two weeks; geophysics. After the lecture series the course will conclude with fieldwork and project work.

Yearbook 2009 available online

The UNU-GTP yearbook "Geothermal Training in Iceland 2009" which was released last August is now available for downloading on-line under publications. The yearbook has been sent out to former UNU-GTP Fellows, supervisors, scientific institutions and libraries. If, for some reason, the book should not reach any of the former Fellows, please be in contact with current contact information and we will send out another copy.  Others who do not receive a book automatically but are interested in a free copy should also be in contact at unugtp@unugtp.is with information of mailing address.
