News from a 2009 LRT fellow

Jafaru Adam Musah from Ghana was a LRT fellow in 2009. He has taken on many new responsibilities in his work since returning from Iceland.  One is the “Ghana Environmental Management Project” (GEMP). GEMP’s prime objective is to assist communities to identify local and community-based activities that can help mitigating desertification and drought.  Jafaru says that the training he got during the LRT programme has given him good skills for such a work and has motivated him to participate in such projects.

Graduation of Class 2010

The Closing Ceremony of the 32nd annual session of the UNU-GTP was held on October 22, 2010. A record number of 28 UNU Fellows from fifteen countries completed the traditional six month specialized geothermal courses. The Fellows came from China 3, Commonwealth of Dominica 1, Comoros 1, Costa Rica 1, Djibouti 1, El Salvador 2, Eritrea 1, Ethiopia 1, Indonesia 3, Kenya 8, Mongolia 1, Nevis 1, Nicaragua 2, Rwanda 1, and Yemen 1. They were trained in: Chemistry of Thermal Fluids 5, Reservoir Engineering 5, Borehole Geology 4, Environmental Science 4, Geothermal Utilization 4, Geophysical Exploration 3, and Drilling Technology 3, and Reservoir Engineering 3.

Graduation of Class 2010

The closing ceremony of the 32nd annual session of the UNU-GTP will be held 13:30 in Orkugardur on October 22nd, 2010. Twenty eight UNU Fellows from fifteen countries will complete the traditional six month specialized geothermal courses this year.

Field trip to the East Fjords

Monday 4th of October the fellows visited the East Iceland to learn about pelagic fisheries, pelagic fish processing and fish meal production.
