UNU-FTP announces voluntary commitments at UN Oceans Conference on SDG 14

This week, UNU-FTP is participating in the high-level United Nations Conference to Support the Implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 14: Conserve and sustainably use the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development, convening at United Nations Headquarters in New York. The conference aims to support the implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 14.

UNU-GEST present at the 1st Asia-Europe Conference on Women’s Economic Empowerment in Lithuania

UNU-GEST Project Assistant Laura Malinauskaite attended the first Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) Conference “Women's Economic Empowerment: Creating Equal Opportunities in the World of Work”, which was held on May 25-26 in Vilnius, Lithuania. The Conference focused on different aspects of women’s economic empowerment and provided a platform for a fruitful dialogue between policy-makers, public and private sectors, innovators, entrepreneurs, ender equality advocates and research institutions.

Visit from Uganda – short course development

UNU-LRT will carry out a short course in Uganda in September this year with its Ugandan partner institutions, the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) and Makerere University. The short course will be on sustainable land management, land restoration and linkages with climate change. In mid-May, the Ugandan members of the curriculum development team visited Iceland to attend a working meeting with their counterparts from UNU-LRT, in order to develop the short course curriculum.
