The Six Month Training in Iceland postponed until in 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic

As was previously announced, the launch of this year's Geothermal Training Programme was intended to take place in the first half of July. However, due to the continuing uncertain and restrictive situation regarding the COVID-19 pandemic worldwide and the extreme restrictions on movement foreseeable in the near future, it was decided in co-operation with the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, to postpone the Programme until next year.

GRÓ·FTP moves

After over 20 eventful years in downtown Reykjavik, GRÓ·FTP and its host institution, the Marine and Freshwater Research Institute (MFRI), have officially moved to a new office at Fornubúðir 5 in Hafnarfjördur, a port town on the southwest coast of Iceland, about 10 km south of Reykjavík.

Celebrating the International Day of Biodiversity with a UNESCO Panel Discussion

Today we celebrate the International day for Biological Diversity by participating in UNESCO expert panel on the theme of the day, “Our solutions are in nature”. GRÓ LRT Deputy Director is one of the speakers in the panel, addressing the topic “What are the possible ways/tools to regenerate ecosystems and restore our links to the living?” This UNESCO initiative gives us opportunity to come together in this period of great uncertainty around common values, to share the resources on which we can rely upon to be collectively resilient and to accelerate a transformation towards a more sustainable and fair world.
