GRÓ-FTP welcomes MSc and PhD Scholarship Recipients to Iceland

The GRÓ-Fisheries Training Programme was pleased to welcome our post-graduate scholarship recipients currently in Iceland to our new offices at the Marine and Freshwater Research Institute in Hafnafjörður last week.

FTP fellow Tricia Lovell is Acting Deputy Chief Fisheries Officer, Antigua and Barbuda

Tricia Lovell of Antigua and Barbuda was a Fisheries Training Programme fellow in 2012. While in Iceland, she specialised in Fisheries Policy and Planning, and her final research project was entitles, "Towards a management plan for Antigua and Barbuda's Queen conch fisheries: a co-management approach".

New host institute for GRÓ GTP

This week, a new service agreement was signed between GRÓ - The International Centre for Capacity Development, Sustainability and Societal Change and Iceland GeoSurvey (ÍSOR). ÍSOR will now take over the hosting of the Geothermal Training Programme, which has been hosted by Orkustofnun – The National Energy Authority of Iceland – since its establishment in 1979.

GRÓ LRT Supporting Partner of the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration

GRÓ LRT has been approved as an official Supporting Partner of the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration 2021-2030. As a Supporting Partner, GRÓ LRT will help promote and amplify the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration and its activities, but the UN Decade will be officially launched at the World Environmental Day on 5 June 2021.

GRÓ GEST and the Icelandic Red Cross renew a Memorandum of Understanding

The GEST programme and the Icelandic Red Cross have renewed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) originally signed in November 2018. The MOU expresses an interest in collaborating in developing gender equality projects and the sharing of expertise in the field of humanitarian and development work, in Iceland and internationally.
