Dr. Wang Tao, the first UNU fellow to finish PhD studies in Iceland

Today, December 8 , Mrs. Wang Tao from China and a UNU Fellow in 2005 defended successfully her PhD dissertation in Food Science from the Faculty of Food Science and Nutrition, School of Health Sciences, University of Iceland.

The specialty courses start

The introductory course ended with a very successful two week trip to Akureyri. As of from Monday, October 26, the specialty courses of the UNU-FTP will start.

New group of fellows

On September 14 the 12th session of the UNU-FTP commenced. This year 19 fellows from 15 countries will take part in the training on 4 lines of specialization: Fisheries Policy and Planning, Stock Assessment, Quality Management of Fish Handling and Processing, and Sustainable Aquaculture. The first part of the UNU-FTP is a 5 weeks introduction to fisheries. During that time the fellows will spend 2 weeks in northern Iceland exploring the fishing industry and attending lectures on company management at the University of Akureyri.
