Two former UNU fellows graduate from Icelandic universities on a scholarship from UNU-FTP
On June 10 Ms. Lillian Chebet (fellow 2007) successfully defended her M.Sc. thesis on “Rapid” (alternative) methods for evaluation of fish freshness and quality at the University of Akureyri. Her main supervisor was Professor Hjörleifur Einarsson. Ms. Mai Nga (fellow 2002) defended her PhD dissertation on Enhancing quality management of fresh fish supply chains through improved logistics and ensured traceability on June 30 from the University of Iceland. Her main supervisor was Mr. Sigurjon Arason. Their studies were supported though the scholarship programme of the UNU-FTP. Both of the research projects are highly relevant to their work at home and will be beneficial to the fisheries developments in both countries (Uganda and Vietnam). We at the UNU-FTP congratulate them for their success and wish them all the best in their future work.
