Announcing UNU-FTP Guest Lecturer: Ian Goulding

The UNU-FTP is pleased to announce this year's Guest Lecturer for the six month training, Dr. Ian Goulding, an internationally renowned expert on fish processing, handling, and safety. He will hold a series of lectures on topics related to issues of quality control, processing, and fisheries as a tool for development. Lectures will take place February 16-19. Dr. Goulding's lectures will be held at Matís, which are open but require an RSVP (for more info contact steinar(at)matis.is).

UNU-FTP Recognized by the United Nations

On December 9, 2014, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a Resolution of Sustainable Fisheries. Within the resolution is text recognizing the work of the UNU-FTP and its contribution to fisheries training in developing countries, particularly small island developing States.

UNU-FTP to support former fellows in World Seafood Congress 2015

The UNU-FTP is making funds available for a limited number of grants for former fellows to participate in the World Seafood Congress 2015 to be held in Grimsby in the United Kingdom on September 05-09, 2015. The event is organised by the International Association of Fish Inspectors (IAFI) so those who of you who are professionally active in that area are particularly encouraged to apply.

UNU-FTP course on Broodstck Management in VietNam

In collaboration with the Network for Aquaculture Centers in Asia and the Pacific (NACA), Nha Trang University in Vietnam, and Holar University College of Iceland, the UNU-FTP has completed its second course on Broodstock Managment in fin fish aquaculture in Vietnam.

Last week, former UNU-FTP fellow and PhD scholarship recipient Chamari Dissanayaki of Sri Lanka received a major award for her research based upon her work with the United Nations University Fisheries Training Programme.

UNU-FTP Welcomes Fellows for Six Month Training

This week, the United Nations University Fisheries Training Programme welcomed 20 new fellows for the six month training course in Iceland. This is the 17th cohort to participate in the six month training since the programme was first established in 1998.
