The overall objective of the short training pilot course on Gender and Climate Change was to build knowledge and understanding of the causes of climate change and its impact on development and gender relations in Uganda. In addition the aim was to build local capacity in Uganda to design and implement gender-responsive climate change policies, strategies and programmes by using analytical and critical thinking skills. 

Description

The main output and result of the Project is a fully developed and tested five-day short training course on Gender and Climate Change tailored for Uganda that can be rolled-out to all districts in the country. The training course package includes: training manual for trainers, session plan and participatory training materials for each session of the course and a supplementary course reader. In addition a team of four Ugandan specialists have been trained and equipped as first generation trainers and can carry out training of trainers (TOT) should the programme be enlarged. 

The group of participants were people working in different sectors at the level of District Local Governments and some key CSOs operating at community level in the target regions. This course was the second pilot now held in Lira Town from the 23-27th July 2012 with a total of 26 participants.
