Description
Irma Erlingsdóttir, the Director of GEST gave a speech at a side event organized by the women’s movement in Iceland, entitled “Cool Feminism: Exploring Ideas from the North”. The event introduced feminist activism in Iceland and highlights the importance of collective action to achieve radical change. The speakers look towards the future and discuss how the next generation of active citizens can be engaged through the teaching of feminism, equality, and gender studies. The demands of Nordic women’s movement—which were written at the Nordic Forum 2014 and based on the Beijing Platform—were also presented as well as ideas and discussion on the promotion of women’s right through a transnational dialogue with the work of the GEST Programme.
