UN Women director meets UNU-GEST

The meeting took place in Reykjavík during the International Conference Celebrating the Centenary of Women’s Suffrage in the Iceland which was held October 22-23. Alongside Madame Phumzile, Mr. Asger Ryhl, Director of UN Women Nordic Office and Ms. Elizabeth Nyamayaro,Senior Advisor at UN Women and Head of the HeForShe Initiative, attended the meeting which emphasized the synergies between the work of UNU-GEST and UN Women worldwide and the importance of collaboration on those issues.

Madame Phumzile underlined how education and training, especially for young people is vital and a real prerequisite for increased gender equality and improved status of girls and women. The fruitful discussions will pave the way for increased collaboration between UNU-GEST and UN Women on several fronts, including policy-relevant research and training on gender equality.
