UNU-GEST fellows Stella Tereka and Harriet Pamara talk on gender and climate change in Uganda

Green Days posterEach year the University of Iceland and the master´s student association of environmental and natural resources studies celebrate Green Days where environmental issues are addressed. This year the theme is "Changing World - Changing Life" as climate change is placed in the spotlight. Two UNU-GEST fellows, Stella Tereka and Harriet Pamara presented on gender in climate change in Uganda. The event programme can be found on Facebook

Green Day lecture

The lecture was well attended and well received, but Ms. Tereka and Ms. Pamara introduced the effects of climate change in Ugada, coping and adaptation mechanisms and how climate change affects women and men differently. Furthermore, they reviewed the policy and legal frameworks in place in Uganda with regards to gender and climate change. During the semester, the two fellows are writing their own project proposals which address issues of gender and climate change in their home country, Uganda.
