UNU-GEST Director meets alumni in Mozambique

17 November 2016

The UNU-GEST Director, Dr. Irma Erlingsdóttir, was on a visit in Mozambique last week where she met diverse partners in ministries, national and international NGOs and organizations. She also hosted an event for UNU-GEST alumni in Maputo.

On November 9 she hosted an event for the UNU-GEST Alumni Association for Mozambique and presented the draft of the UNU-GEST Alumni Strategy and Strategic Plan. UNU-GEST is currently in the process of formalising its alumni networks in countries that have a significant number of former fellows as part of its UNU-GEST Alumni Network Strategy. For this purpose UNU-GEST has developed an Alumni Strategic Plan for the period of 2016 to 2018 in order to implement the Alumni Strategy, which is based on UNU-GEST overall vision, mission and goals as stated in its Strategic Plan 2015-2018.

The Mozambique alumni meeting served as a platform for former fellows/alumni to air their views on the Alumni Strategic Plan and wishes for such a network to be operating in Mozambique in the near future. It was also a timely reunion and brought together nine of the fourteen alumni fellows from Mozambique, which have graduated from the GEST/UNU-GEST post-graduate programme in international gender studies. Information on project proposals and specialisation of the Mozambican alumni can be found in the UNU-GEST Directory of former fellows.
