Third lecture of the spring lecture series

On Thursday 8th of February, Dr. Ragnhildur Helgadóttir, Dean of the School of Law at Reykjavik University, will be the third lecturer in the joint RIKK and UNU-GEST lecture series this spring. Dr. Helgadóttir is professor of constitutional law, focusing her research on areas such as constitutional law, administrative law and social security law.

In her lecture titled “Human Dignity in Icelandic Law” she will address how the concept of human dignity relates to and is executed in Icelandic law. The concept of “human dignity” is not frequently found in Icelandic law and there is no mention of it in the constitution. Human dignity is however considered fundamental in constitutional law, i.e. on the basis international conventions, and therefore an important main rule in Icelandic law. This is evident in parliamentary documents on the constitutional bill and in execution.

The lecture will take place on Thursday, 8th of February, from 12.00-13.00, in the National Museum’s lecture hall. As always, the attendance to the English lecture is free and open to the public. You can find more information on the event here.
