The Director of UNU-GEST Irma Erlingsdóttir visited Birzeit University in the West Bank, Palestine. On September 27, she met the university’s Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Henry Giacman, the Director of External Academic Relations Office Dr. Amir Khalil and the Director of Women Studies Institute Dr. Eileen Kuttab.
 
This academic year UNU-GEST is cooperating with Birzeit University and offering its MA/MSc students fellowship opportunities in a joint programme under the framework of Erasmus+ to participate in the Gender Equality Studies and Training Programme in Iceland. The parties discussed areas for future cooperation and emphasized the importance of possibilities of mobility for graduate students and teachers that contribute to capacity building of Birzeit University through scholarships and grants.
 

Several students, who applied for the joint Erasmus+ and UNU-GEST scholarship/fellowship, were interviewed at Birzeit University, six of them will be awarded fellowships at UNU-GEST beginning in January 2017.
