Onsite Component of MATI 2024
Today, the onsite component of the MenEngage Africa Training Institute (MATI) 2024 began in Nairobi, Kenya. Twenty-three young development professionals are participating, building on the online component that ran throughout July, organized and provided by the GRÓ GEST online course program in international gender studies. Over the next five days, participants will delve even deeper into the role of men and boys in the global context of increasing armed conflicts, climate crises, insecurity, displacement, and socio-economic challenges.
One of GRÓ GEST’s main missions is to serve as a platform for transnational dialogue and knowledge exchange. Since 2020, one of its flagship activities has been offering Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) via the edX platform. This collaboration between GRÓ GEST, MenEngage Africa Alliance, Sonke Gender Justice, and the Women’s International League for Peace and Freedom (WILPF) combines the wide-reaching accessibility and convenience of MOOCs with the personalized experience of in-person training, opening up an array of opportunities for future knowledge exchange initiatives.
