Mbeko: “Gender is a development issue”

1 March 2015

Mzati-Kidney Mbeko, a 2014 graduate from the UNU-GEST diploma programme has been appointed the National Coordinator of Women and Law in Southern Africa (WLSA) in Malawi. In late August, Mr. Mbeko was interviewed by The Nation, one of the most widely read newspapers in the country, about his appointment and WLSA´s future projects in Malawi. He sais “let´s desist from looking at issues of gender as a women´s issue because if the truth be told, gender is a development issue. As such it should matter less who is peddling it”.

The UNU-GEST team congratulates Mr. Mbeko on his new post and looks forward to follow his achievements and WLSA contribution to advancing gender issues in Malawi in the future. The interview can be found on the National website.
