Palestine - 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence Campaign

A 16-day campaign to end violence against women was carried out by UNRWA’s Emergency Community Mental Health Project in all 54 Bedouin communities targeted in West Bank, Palestine. The main objective was to raise awareness about gender-based violence as a human right issue, where a clear interaction by the Bedouin communities was shown and a wide participation by women and men, girls and boys in most of the targeted areas was noticed. 1,439 (63 per cent females) participated in the 16 Days campaign. Topics included gender-based violence, alternatives to violence in education, nonviolent communication in the family, and other family and child protection matters.
