Three UNU-GTP reports were the most frequently viewed publications in 2012
Of all the publications at the National Energy Authority, three reports, published by the UNU-GTP, were the most frequently viewed publications of 2012.

Short Course VII on Exploration for Geothermal Resources
Short Course VII on Exploration for Geothermal Resources is currently underway at Lake Naivasha in Kenya. The course is hosted by the UNU-GTP, Geothermal Development Company, Kenya (GDC), and Kenya Electricity and Generating Company, Ltd. (KenGen). The course, which started on October 27 and will last until November 18, is a continuation of the short course series on geothermal exploration that falls within the framework of UNU-GTP Millennium Short Courses that have been conducted annually in Kenya since 2005.

Graduation of class 2012
The closing ceremony of the 34th annual session of the UNU-GTP was held on October 12, 2012, with a record number of 33 UNU graduates from the six month specialized courses. The Fellows came from 17 countries: Bangladesh (1), China (2), Djibouti (1), El Salvador (2), Ethiopia (3), India (1), Kenya (10), Malawi (1), Mexico (1), Nevis (1), Nicaragua (1), Papua New Guinea (2), Philippines (2), Rwanda (2), Sri Lanka (1), Tanzania (1), and Uganda (1).

Dr. Ingvar B. Fridleifsson, director of UNU-GTP becomes an honorary member of the Geothermal Association of Iceland
On the 2nd of October 2012, the autumn meeting of the Geothermal Association of Iceland (GAI) was held in Orkugardur. The title of the meeting was "Iceland and the United Nations University Geothermal Training Programme". This year, the schedule was dedicated to the director of UNU-GTP, Dr. Ingvar B. Fridleifsson, a newly elected honorary member of GAI.

Short Course V on Conceptual Modelling of Geothermal Systems in El Salvador - New Dates
The Short Course on Conceptual Modelling of Geothermal Systems hosted by UNU-GTP and LaGeo S.A. de C.V. will be held 24 February - 2 March 2013. Over the course of the week participants from Central- and South-America, and the Caribbean area will attend lectures given by local and international experts. Some practical sessions are included in the program as well as a field trip to Ahuachapan geothermal field.
