United Nations University Geothermal Training Programme (UNU-GTP) in Iceland, Geothermal Development Company, Kenya (GDC) and Kenya Electricity Generating Company, Ltd. (KenGen) will be hosting“Short Course VIII on Exploration for Geothermal Resources”, to be held at Lake Bogoria Hotel and at Sopa Lodge, Naivasha, Kenya, October 31 – November 22, 2013.

The annual seminar on the status of geothermal development in the home countries of the UNU Fellows will be held on Thursday 30 May 2013 at Orkustofnun. The seminar starts at 09.00 and is open to all intertested parties.

The contract gives outstanding Fellows who have finished the Six Month Training Programme at UNU-GTP, the opportunity to further their studies by enrolling in the MSc programme at RU.

The 35th session of the UNU-GTP opened on Tuesday 23rd of April. The Director, Dr Ingvar B. Friðleifsson, lead the opening ceremony and gave a presentation about the work of the United Nations University and the UNU Prorammes in Iceland and their establishment.

Charles Muturia Lichoro, MSc Fellow in geophysics, will give a lecture on his MSc project on Thursday, April 18, 2013, at 16:00 in Askja, room 131.

On Tuesday the 9th of April at 14:00 in room 147 in VR-II at the University of Iceland, Luis Alonso Aguirre Lopes will defend his M.Eng thesis, titled: "Modelling and Stability Analysis of Berlin Geothermal Power Plant in El Salvador". His supervisor is Magni Þór Pálsson. With him in the commitee is Ólöf Helgadóttir. The external examiner is Ragnar Kristjánsson. Everyone's welcome to attend.
