Workshop to review and revise curriculum of six-month training programme

Last week, a successful workshop was held to review and revise the curriculum of the UNU-LRT six-month training programme. Dr. Jeffrey Herrick, the UNU-LRT main international guest lecturer in 2012, re-visited Iceland to participate in the workshop.

Short Course VII on Exploration for Geothermal Resources

Short Course VII on Exploration for Geothermal Resources is currently underway at Lake Naivasha in Kenya. The course is hosted by the UNU-GTP, Geothermal Development Company, Kenya (GDC), and Kenya Electricity and Generating Company, Ltd. (KenGen). The course, which started on October 27 and will last until November 18, is a continuation of the short course series on geothermal exploration that falls within the framework of UNU-GTP Millennium Short Courses that have been conducted annually in Kenya since 2005.

Graduation of class 2012

The closing ceremony of the 34th annual session of the UNU-GTP was held on October 12, 2012, with a record number of 33 UNU graduates from the six month specialized courses. The Fellows came from 17 countries: Bangladesh (1), China (2), Djibouti (1), El Salvador (2), Ethiopia (3), India (1), Kenya (10), Malawi (1), Mexico (1), Nevis (1), Nicaragua (1), Papua New Guinea (2), Philippines (2), Rwanda (2), Sri Lanka (1), Tanzania (1), and Uganda (1).
