Britney Kasmiran finishes her MSc studies at the University of Iceland

UNU-FTP is proud to announce that Ms. Britney Sharline Kasmiran, a fellow 2016, defended her MSc thesis on “Physicochemical Properties and potential utilization of side raw materials of Yellowfin (Thunnus albacares) and albacore (Thunnus alalunga) tuna” on May 27 2019 at Matis. Her supervisors were Prof. Maria Gudjonsdottir, Prof. Sigurjon Arason, Dr. Magnea Karlsdóttir.

Second short course in Mongolia on communicating knowledge for sustainable rangeland management under climate change

This spring, UNU-LRT ran a training course in Mongolia for the second time on “Communicating Knowledge for Sustainable Rangeland Management under Climate Change – Improving Analytic and Reporting Skills”. The goal of the course is to provide training to communicate and synthesize knowledge on environmental monitoring, so that it can be translated into effective policy making for sustainable rangeland use.

“We have learned that despite the differences we have in ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or social status, our struggles in this world are similar“ - UNU-GEST graduates the 12th cohort

Today, the United Nations University Gender Equality Studies and Training Programme (UNU-GEST) celebrated the graduation of 23 fellows who were awarded a post-graduate diploma in international gender studies from the University of Iceland. This year, the fellows come from 13 countries; from Afghanistan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Mozambique, Nigeria, Palestine, Serbia, Uganda and for the first time Kosovo and India.
