Decolonizing Nordic Higher Education
This week research specialist Giti Chandra and academic coordinator Thomas Brorsen Smidt of GRÓ-GEST took part in the intra-Nordic workshop “Decolonizing Nordic Higher Education” at Södertörn University in Stockholm. The workshop, which was held on October 5 and 6, was organised by GRÓ-GEST in collaboration with Yulia Gradskova, associate professor of history at Södertörn University, and was supported by ReNEW, a research hub established to enhance cooperation to develop new quality research on the Nordic region within a global context.

IDEAS - Workshop on Script Writing for Podcasts
This week, on 3-5 of October, GEST project manager Dr Thomas Brorsen Smidt travelled to Athens to facilitate a workshop on script writing for podcasting and how to make feminist knowledge and women’s empowerment accessible through mono-sensory media.

Building Trust for Sustainable Peace: Conference
GRÓ GEST joins Höfði Reykjavík Peace Centre in hosting its annual conference on peace, this year in cooperation with the Icelandic Ministry for Foreign Affairs and The Institute for Sustainability Studies. The conference takes place on Friday, 8 October from 12 pm to 4.30 pm at Veröld - The House of Vigdís at the University of Iceland. Open Lecture: Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, author of We Should All Be Feminists and Half of a Yellow Sun, will give an open lecture in the Large Hall of Háskólabíó – University Cinema on Friday, 10 September at 2 pm. The lecture is a part of The Reykjavík International Literary Festival programme and is organized in collaboration with RIKK – Institute for Gender, Equality and Difference and GRÓ-GEST. Irma Erlingsdóttir moderates.

GEST Welcomes the 2021 Cohort
It was with a great pleasure that the GEST team welcomed its 2021 cohort to Iceland in August. The fellows arrived over a period of two weeks, and the teaching started on the 13th of August, after three days of orientation that was partially online. The 2021 cohort consists of twenty fellows from 15 countries. This year, for the first time, fellows from China, Egypt, Mexico, Mongolia, Namibia, and Nepal are joining the programme.
