Visit with the Mauritanian Ambassador
On August 29, 2018, UNU-FTP recieved a visit from the Mauritanian Ambassador, the honourable Abdallahi Bah Nagi Kebd. During the meeting, we discussed our ongoing work in Mauritania in connection with the FarFish project, funded through the EU's Horizon 2020 programme, as well as future potential for collaboration on issues related to capacity building for fisheries management and development in Mauritania.

UNU-GEST Alumni Tereza Vujošević interviewed by two Montenegrin TV programmes
Tereza Vujošević who graduated from the UNU-GEST diploma programme in International Gender Equality Studies in May 2018, was invited to talk about her experiences in Iceland and issues regarding gender equality in her home country Montenegro on the leading TV programme “Journal at 19” on August 8th.

Excursion on land degradation, restoration implementation and land care
An important part of the training in the UNU-LRT six-month training programme are field excursions where the fellows learn about land degradation challenges, successes and failures in land restoration, and discuss with local people working in the field. Last week the fellows were on an excursion in the North of Iceland where they visited diverse sites revealing how land condition has been improved with various innovative solutions, often under harsh conditions.
