International guest lecturer at UNU-LRT
Dr Maryam Niamir-Fuller, an expert on international sustainable development, was the main international guest lecturer at the UNU-LRT six-month training programme this year. Dr Niamir-Fuller gave three interactive lectures on rangelands, livestock and land restoration. She focused on how to move towards sustainability in the extensive and intensive livestock sectors, proposing a conceptual framework model to transform the sectors.
Dr Niamir-Fuller was also the keynote speaker at an open meeting hosted by UNU-LRT at the National Museum of Iceland on 17 August. Her talk was entitled: Breaking silos: The design and implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, where she focused on how different sectors can cooperate on achieving an integrated implementation of the SDG´s.

High-level Indonesian delegation visits UNU-GTP
On August 10, a high-level Indonesian delegation led by Dr. Agus Hermanto, Vice Speaker of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia visited UNU-GTP.

Visit from Indonesia
On August 10th, our program was visited by a high-level delegation from the Republic of Indonesia. It was led by the vice speaker of the Indonesian parliament, Dr. Agus Hermanto. They were greeted by Mr. Thor Asgeirsson, the UNU-FTP deputy director. The two sides discussed some important topics of mutual interest.

UNU-GEST and Lebanese American University Offer Joint Scholarships
The Lebanese American University (LAU) and UNU-GEST invite master's students to apply for a joint Erasmus+ and UNU-GEST fellowships to attend the 2018 Post-Graduate Diploma Programme in International Gender Studies at the University of Iceland. The programme will run from January 8 to May 24, 2018 in Reykjavík, Iceland.

UNU-GEST Alumni 2017 Kevin Ogbajie: Two Months After Graduation
UNU-GEST is always excited to track down our alumni and catch up with them on their important work in their communities. Last year, UNU-GEST in collaboration with our alumni community drafted an alumni strategy, which sets out to create an international network of gender advocates, enabling them to share their knowledge, practices and support each other in the fight for gender equality worldwide. This year’s graduate, Kevin Ekechukwu Ogbajie from Nigeria, seems to have been busy since his graduation.
