GRÓ adopts strategic priorities until 2027
GRÓ – The International Centre for Capacity Development, Sustainable use of Natural Resources and Societal Change has adopted strategic priorities that will guide its work until 2027. The Strategic priorities are a part of GRÓ‘s Result-Based Management approach, in line with UNESCO‘s guidelines, and explain how GRÓ will implement the Theory of Change.
The document lists the outputs in GRÓ‘s Theory of Change and how GRÓ will work strategically to achieve each of them. Results will be measured against the priorities.
GRÓ undertakes to train at least 100 fellows per year in Iceland (25 per Training Programme), grant 20 postgraduate scholarships to GRÓ fellows per year in Icelandic or partner universities, host at least 25 short courses annually in partner countries or online and to produce four online teaching tools annually. The document also explains how GRÓ will produce and disseminate new knowledge by GRÓ fellows and work toward the professional empowerment of alumni. Further, the document sets priorities for the GRÓ centre to continue to improve synergies and maximise efficiency of the work of GRÓ and to work on increased outreach and cooperation with other partners.
GRÓ operates under the auspices of UNESCO and runs four training programmes in Iceland in fields where Iceland has particular expertise. These are the Fisheries Training Programme, the Gender Equality and Studies Programme, the Geothermal Energy Training Programme and the Land Restoration training programme. The four training programmes have a long and successful history and have for decades been one of the main pillars of Iceland’s international development cooperation.
