Short course in Kyrgyzstan on gender, environment and sustainable land management
This week, GRÓ LRT in collaboration with GRÓ GEST, conducted a three-day training course titled "Gender, the Environment, and Sustainable Land Management" in Kyrgyzstan. The course was tailored for the staff of Camp Alatoo Foundation, comprising 16 natural resources management experts.

Six-month Training Programme underway
In an opening ceremony earlier today Þór Ásgeirsson, GRÓ-FTP director, greeted the incoming fellows and Þorsteinn Sigurðsson, director of the Marine and Freshwater Research Institute, which hosts the programme, welcomed them into the house at Fornubúðir, which will now become their working place for the upcoming months.

UNESCO and GRÓ reinforce cooperation for ecosystem restoration
UNESCO and GRÓ have signed a new partnership agreement to reinforce capacity for ecosystem restoration in Africa. Two fellows from UNESCO biosphere reserves will annually be invited to attend the six month GRÓ Land Restoration Training Programme in Iceland.

GRÓ GEST Director Visits The Lilja’s Fistula and One Stop Centre in Mangochi, Malawi
The GRÓ GEST Director, Dr. Irma Erlingsdóttir visited Malawi in November, where she visited GRÓ GEST’s partners, both old and new. Among the sites visited was the Lilja’s Fistula and One Stop Centre at the Mangochi District Hospital, a care centre for survivors of sexual violence and inter institutional support centre addressing fistula.
