Short Bio
Theódór’s academic background is in biology and genetics. In his masters degree he focused on recirculation of fresh water in arctic charr farming and in his PhD breeding design in Atlantic cod.
In 2002 he started working for Stofnfiskur (which in 2014 became a part of Benchmark Genetics) first as a project manager in cod breeding and in 2012 became a research manager.
Since 2018 Theódór has been employed at the Marine and Freshwater Research Institute (MFRI) where he has continued to work on genetics and genomics in adition of overseeing a masters program organised jointly by MFRI and University of Iceland.
In 2024 he took on heading GRÓ-FTP’s sustainable aquaculture line of specialisation.
