Short Bio
Sara has a BSc degree in molecular biology and philosophy of science from Roskilde University in Denmark (2009); an MSc degree in engineering /aquatic science from the Technical University of Denmark (2012); and a PhD in evolutionary genomics from University of Copenhagen (2017).
She has recently returned to Iceland after 20 years abroad in Denmark and Canada where most of her research focused on toxin producing phytoplankton and cascading effects in the arctic marine food web. More recently her research has focused on the effects of climate changes on marine life and how we can better understand the role of sea-ice in the earth system.
Sara's research areas are phytoplankton, primary production and environmental DNA.
