GRÓ-FTP welcomes new postgraduate scholarship recipient Symon Ngwira from Malawi

Symon Ngwira from Malawi, a former 2001-2022 FTP fellow, arrived in Iceland earlier in September to begin his master’s studies at the University of Iceland on a scholarship provided by GRÓ-FTP. Symon will study on the Environment and Natural Resources master´s programme which is an interdisciplinary and international programme with a focus on environmental issues and the utilisation of natural resources. Symon will specialise in Ocean Sustainability.

UN Ocean Conference

GRÓ-FTP’s staff were among thousands of other participants attending the 2nd UN Ocean Conference, this time co-hosted by Kenya and Portugal in Lisbon June 27th to July 1st.
PROBLUE guests were keen to learn about GRÓ-FTP’s mission as a capacity building programme in the fisheries sector of developing countries.

Visit from PROBLUE

Recently GRÓ-FTP had a visit from the PROBLUE trust fund. The guests were here in Iceland in connection with the annual meeting of the fund’s Partnership Council, which this time was hosted by the Icelandic Ministry for Foreign Affairs. They were keen to learn about GRÓ-FTP’s mission as a capacity building programme in the fisheries sector.
