GRÓ-FTP fellows visit Laugardalur swimming pool

As part of a programme of getting out and about in Reykjavík, FTP fellows were invited to a guided tour of the Laugardalur swimming pool.

Enjoying the benefits that swimming pools have to offer is an important part of everyday life in Iceland, and the “Icelandic swimming pool culture” is one of the characteristics of living in Iceland that previous GRÓ fellows have especially mentioned in memories of their stay here.

On this occasion Árni Jónsson, Operations Manager of the Laugardalur pool, welcomed the FTP fellows and gave a short introduction to the history of the pool and Icelandic swimming traditions. The fellows were given a guided tour of the pool facilities and an opportunity to try the pool for themselves.
