UNU-FTP signs MoU with the Bangladesh Shrimp and Fish Foundation
Yesterday, September 29, 2014, the United Nations University Fisheries Training Programme and the Bangladesh Shrimp and Fish Foundation (BSFF) signed a Memorandum of Understanding outlining collaboration between the two entities in the coming years.
The BSFF is a non-profit research and advocacy organization, was established in 2003 with a mission to work for development of the shrimp and fish industry of Bangladesh on a hygienically safe, economically viable, socially responsible and environmentally sustainable basis. It works as a link among the Government (in particular the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, Ministry of Commerce, Department of Fisheries and Fishery Products Business Promotion Council), Academia, the Private Sector and the Development Partners.
Representatives from the BSFF and the Bangladesh Ministry of Commerce were in Iceland for a study tour coordinated by the UNU-FTP and Matis linked with the Icelandic Fisheries Exhibition and Awards.
