UNU-FTP and Nha Trang University, Vietnam sign MoU

Nha Trang Univesrity (NTU, formerly Nha Trang Fisheries University) is a leading university in Vietnam in the field of fisheries and aquaculture, with about 23000 students, including 1200 graduate students. It has been the main partner of the UNU-FTP in Vietnam since 2001. Eleven staff have completed the six month post-graduate training in Iceland, two of whom have continued to complete a Ph.D. in Iceland with UNU-FTP support. Since 2004 NTU has also partnered in the development and delivery of three short courses, one national and two regional courses in cooperation with the Network for Aquaculture Centres in Asia-Pacific (NACA).  On May 30th 2013, the close and fruitful cooperation was acknowledged through the signing on an MoU at a small ceremony in a beautiful setting at NTU which is housed in an old monastery overlooking the Nha Trang Bay.

The MoU will guide the cooperation of the two parties over the next five years and reflects the important role NTU plays in the work of the UNU-FTP, not only in Vietnam but elsewhere as well. The MoU was signed by Dr. Trang Si Trung, Vice Rector of NTU and Tumi Tomasson director of the UNU-FTP.
