Short course for managers of AFAs in Malaysia

A short course on Management Performance and Leadership for manager of Area Fishermen Associations (AFAs) in Malaysia was held October 23 to 27.
The short course was developed in cooperation with Malaysian Fisheries Development Authorities (LKIM) and experts from University of Akureyri. A total of 40 participants, AFAs chairmen, AFAs
directors and LKIM officials, attended the course which was delivered in their local language by former UNU fellows. About 80 AFAs are in Malaysia to support small scale fishermen and their
communities. The short course was intended to assist managers to improve the operation of their AFAs towards sustainability and independence.
