New group of fellows has arrived in Iceland
There are 21 fellows who are participating in the programme this year from 13 countries: Liberia (2), Ghana (2), Namibia (2), Mozambique (3), South Africa (2), Jamaica (1), Cameroon (1), Sierra Leone (2), Uganda (2), Sri Lanka (1), Suriname (1), Oman (1) and Saint Lucia (1). Of those 21, ten are women. Four lines of specialization are run this year: Quality Management of Fish Handling and Processing, Marine and Inland-Waters Resources, Assessment and Monitoring (Stock Assessment), Sustainable Aquaculture which will be taught in the University of Holar and Fishing Technology which will be taught in Isafjordur. This year UNU-FTP continues its focus on West Africa and cooperation with regional organizations such as the Caribbean Regional Fisheries Mechanism.
