GRÓ-FTP scholarship recipient Hang Thi Nguyen to defend PhD
Tuesday April 18th GRÓ-FTP scholarship recipient, Hang Thi Nguyen, will defend her PhD research Novel protein sources from fish processing side streams and underutilised species for human consumption.
The defence takes place at University of Iceland's main building and starts at 13:00.
Supervisor of the research were Dr María Guðjónsdóttir and Sigurjón Arason, professor. Apart from them in the doctoral committee were Ólöf Guðný Geirsdóttir, professor and Ingibjörg Gunnarsdóttir, professor.
Opponents in the defence are both from Norway: Dr Heidi Nielsen, head of research at Nofima in Tromsö and Dr. Ida-Johanne Jensen, assistant professor at NTNU/UiT in Trondheim.
The defence will be presided over by Dr María Guðjónsdóttir, professor and dean of the Faculty of Food Science and Nutrition.
Hang joined the Fisheries Training Programme on a fellowship in 2014. Two years later she received an FTP scholarship to do masters studies at the University of Iceland. She is the sixteenth person to complete a Ph.D. under an FTP scholarship.
