Farewell and thanks to Gunnar Knapp, the FTP's visiting lecturer in 2013
We at the UNU-FTP were very pleased to spend this past week with Professor Gunnar Knapp, a fisheries economist from the University of Alaska in Anchorage. During his stay in Iceland, Professor Knapp delivered several interesting open lectures on fisheries economics, management systems, and economic development. These lectures will be made available on our website shortly.
Gunnar Knapp is Professor of Economics and Director of the Institute of Social and Economic Research (ISER) at the University of Alaska Anchorage (USA), where he has worked since receiving his Ph.D. in Economics from Yale University in 1981. Dr. Knapp has been studying fisheries markets, fisheries management and the world seafood industry for more than two decades. He is particularly well known for his research on world salmon markets and the world salmon industry. Dr. Knapp is closely engaged with the seafood industry and policy makers in Alaska. He is currently writing a book about The Economics of Fish, which is intended as an introduction to the insights provided by economics about fisheries, aquaculture and the seafood industry.
