In October 23-27 the UNU-FTP was visited by an Estonian delegation studying fisheries management in Iceland.
In the delegation were the heads of various fisheries departments in the Ministry of Agriculture in Estonia and among them was Mr. Hannes Ulmas who is a UNU fellow and took part in the UNU-FTP in
2003 specializing in Fisheries Policy and Planning. During the time in Iceland the group visited key fisheries management institutions, federation large vessel owners, and national association of
small boat owners, and discussed the experience Iceland has had with its ITQ system with various fisheries experts. The UNU-FTP is very pleased with being able to assist in organizing the visit and
help former fellows progressing in their profession.
