2018 cohort of fellows coming
UNU-FTP is expecting the arrival of the 2018 cohort of fellows in the next few days.
This year’s group is one of the biggest ever to start the Six Month Training Programme; 25 people from 16 countries in Oceania, Asia, Africa and the Caribbean.
Interestingly, over half of the fellows this year are from West-Africa.
This focus reflects pledges UNU-FTP made at the UN Ocean Conference last year. In them UNU-FTP committed itself to capacity development to support …
- livelihood and food security /safety in African costal communities;
- and blue growth in small island developing states (SIDS).
The division of fellows between lines of specialisation is quite even this year: Nine will follow the Stock Assessment Line; eight the Fisheries Policy and Management Line; and eight the Quality Management of Fish Handling Line .
The staff at UNU-FTP is looking forward to receiving the fellows in the next few days.
