GRÓ-FTP collaborates with institutions in our partner countries to identify qualified candidates to participate in the six-month training programme in Iceland. The FTP is an institutional capacity building organisation, for that reason, we do not accept applications from individuals. Rather, our partner institutions nominate potential candidates who are then interviewed by GRÓ-FTP staff.
Selection of fellows
Selection of fellows for the six-month training is based on multiple criteria, including the following:
- The candidate must have at least one university degree.
- The candidate must have at least two years of experience in the field of specialisation that he/she will pursue at FTP.
- The candidate needs a strong command of English (must be able to speak, read and write) because the working language of FTP is English.
Fellows are selected after extensive personal interviews, preferably in the workplace, where he/she needs to be able to:
- prove their ability to communicate in English
- explain their work and role at the institute
- discuss and identify current problems in the fisheries sector and its development priorities
- display an in-depth understanding of their professional work and how it relates to the fisheries sector
