Abstract

The objective of this project was to assess the impact of different types of land use on vegetation cover and species richness in rangelands in Khanbogd soum, Umnugovi province in southern Mongolia. In this project, the impact of three types of rangeland uses were investigated: livestock grazing, roads and mining. These three types are characteristic for the uses of Mongolian rangelands and have presumably strongly influenced conditions of the desert steppe.
