On the 1st of January 2020, LRT joined hands with UNESCO

After many years of fruitful collaboration, the United Nations University and the Land Restoration Training Programme are parting ways, along with the other three Training Programmes in Iceland on fisheries, gender equality and geothermal energy. As of 1 January 2020, the four Programmes are a part of the new UNESCO category 2 centre GRÓ - Centre for Capacity Development, Sustainability and Societal Change.

The GRÓ UNESCO category 2 centre, in collaboration with the Programmes’ respective host institutions, will continue to run the LRT, FTP, GEST and GTP training programmes in 2020 and in the coming years. Through the Land Restoration Training Programme, GRÓ will continue with the strategic objectives of strengthening organisational, institutional and individual capacities in less developed countries with a focus on promoting the restoration of degraded land and sustainable land management.

We look forward to continuing our strong collaboration with our partners with a new identity under the auspices of UNESCO.

Due to those changes, we are constructing this new website. Please notice that the website is still under construction and more information will be added in the coming days.
