Guest lecturer from UNU-INWEH
UNU-LRT had a guest lecturer last week when Dr. Richard Thomas, from the UNU Institute for Water, Environment & Health (UNU-INWEH) in Canada, gave the UNU-LRT fellows lectures on management of dryland resources. Dr. Thomas has worked for UNU-INWEH for almost 5 years where he is the Assistant Director for the Dryland Ecosystems Programme.
This is not the first time Dr. Thomas has lectured at UNU-LRT. In 2012 he also lectured at the programme, then visiting the country for the first time. This week Dr. Thomas is participating in an international conference, along with the UNU-LRT fellows, on Soil Carbon Sequestration for climate, food security and ecosystem services in Reykjavik, where he will give a presentation titled: How soils can rise above the current impasse and gridlock in international arenas. The conference ends on Wednesday, 29 May.
