New Restoration Ecology Master's programme at AUI

New MSc programme in Restoration Ecology will be launched at the Agricultural University of Iceland (AUI) in the fall of 2023. The programme is offered within the Faculty of Environmental and Forest Sciences like the Postgraduate Diploma that successful fellows receive after attending GRÓ LRT six-month training programme.

Ecological restoration and the academic field of restoration ecology are increasingly considered crucial for combating environmental degradation such as desertification and loss of biodiversity, and for promoting sustainable land use and mitigating climate change. The critical importance of this field is exemplified in the declaration of 2021-2030 as the UN Decade of Ecosystem Restoration, making ecological restoration as a major path towards the recovery and resilience of Earth’s natural, social, and financial capital.
