Fellows visit SCSI headquarters
24 April 2012
Last week the 2012 UNU-LRT fellows visited the headquarters of the Soil Conservation Service of Iceland (SCSI) in Gunnarsholt. The fellows were told about the history of SCSI and shown some of the facilities at the headquarters. The new SCSI visitor centre, Sagnagarður, was also visited. In Sagnagarður the story of land degradation in Iceland is told as well as the captivating story of land restoration and soil stabilization over the last one hundred years.
The photo was taken by Almar Sigurdsson in Sagnagarður where the UNU-LRT fellows gathered around the first automotive machine used for reclamation work in Iceland.
