The UNU-GTP held a Short Course on geothermal development for decision makers from Malawi, Tanzania and Zambia in cooperation with Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KenGen) and Geothermal Development Company (GDC) at Lake Naivasha in Kenya from 26 to 30 November. The Icelandic International Development Agency was the main source of finance for the course, but co-financing was also contributed by the Nordic Development Fund.
The Short Course covered the basics of geothermal exploration and development and was attended by 23 participants from the three countries, i.e. Malawi (7), Tanzania (7), Zambia (8), and UNEP (1), with lecture support coming from ÍSOR – Iceland GeoSurvey, GDC, KenGen and UNEP.
