A 13 week customer-designed “Course on Geothermal Technology”, was organized by UNU-GTP in accordance to the requirements of Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KenGen), in Kenya. The course started April 16 and concluded July 14 2012.
The aim of the training was to give a detailed course covering most aspects of geothermal exploration, from the surface to deep drilling. The first half was spent on surface exploration, including Geology, Geophysics, Chemistry of Thermal Fluids and Environmental Science, while the second half was spent on downhole exploration, through Borehole Geology, Reservoir Monitoring and Drilling Technology.
This is the biggest course that the UNU-GTP has given outside Iceland. The course was well received by the 45 participants.
