Description
The objective of the training was to teach personnel within Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KenGen) how to carry out detailed geological mapping of potential geothermal resource areas, including tectonic and stratigraphic features, surface petrology, mineralogy, lithology, and geothermal surface manifestations. The training included theoretical underpinnings, sampling techniques, identification and data gathering in the field, data analysis and the construction of geological maps utilizing high-quality spatial data through the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS). The training was carried out by three trainers in Kenya over the period 31 March - 12 April and 5 May - 26 July, 2014.
