UNU-GTP nominated for the Nordic Council Nature and Environment Prize

The United Nations University Geothermal Training Programme received the honour of being nominated for the Nordic Council Nature and Environment Prize in 2013.  The prize is awarded to a Nordic enterprise, organisation or individual, which has managed in an exemplary way to integrate consideration for nature and the environment into their business or work, or which, in some other way, has made an extraordinary effort for nature and the environment. 

This year there were ten nominees for the prize and the award ceremony was held October 30th 2013 in Oslo, Norway. 

The ten nominees were:

Jarðhitaskóli Sameinuðu þjóðanna, UNU Geothermal Training Programme (Iceland)

ASKO, wholesaler and supplier of groceries (Norway)

Carbon Recycling International, innovation company (Iceland)

HINKU-forum, Kolneutrala kommuner, municipal environmental project (Finland)

Hållbara Hav, initiative (Sweden)

Katvig ApS, children's clothes manufacturer (Denmark)

Solvatten AB, water treatment (Sweden)

TOMRA, environmental technology company (Norway) / The founders, brothers Tore and Petter Planke, who founded TOMRA 1972

Ålands Biodlarförening, beekeepers association (Åland)

and the winner of the Nordic Council Nature and Environment Prize 2013 was:

Selina Juul, Stop Spild Af Mad movement (Denmark)
