UNU-GTP is currently conducting Short Course on Borehole Geophysics for Geothermal Development in Ethiopia for selected employees of the Geological Survey of Ethopia (GSE) and the Geothermal Sector Development Project of Ethiopian Elelectric Power (EEP).  The short course is funded by the Icelandic Ministry for Foreign Affairs – ICEIDA and the Nordic Development Fund through the Geothermal Exploration Project, which has the objective of supporting geothermal exploration and capacity building in East Africa. The course covers various aspects of well logging, well testing and reservoir monitoring and consists of lectures, exercises and actual logging and testing of wells in the field.  It has a duration of two weeks, June 6-18, and is conducted in Addis Ababa, aside from two days of field work in the Aluto Langano geothermal field.  The short course is attended by 28 employees of GSE and EEP and lecturing is in the hands of Mr. Benedikt Steingrímsson, UNU-GTP Studies Board member and Mr. Thorsteinn Egilson, geophysicst at ÍSOR – Iceland GeoSurvey.
