On 3rd of August an eruption started on the same site as last year.  Two PhD fellows, Tingting Zheng and Daniel Villarroel, assisted scientists from the University of Iceland to measure gas emission from the recent volcanic eruption at Reykjanes peninsula.  They are studying reservoir engineering and geochemistry, respectively, at the University.  At the moment the volcano is lo longer erupting but most of the GTP fellows had a chance to visit the site and are eagerly waiting which events will occur there next.
